Well we made it through another week of 2020. How can it be that next week is already Christmas?? I’m really trying to focus on being present in the moment, which can be so hard some days.
I’ve said it before on the blog, and I’ll say it again, I don’t want the girls to remember me as an angry mom, especially during the holidays. I also don’t want them to remember me as having my face buried in my phone (which I am trying to be better at). I want them to remember a mom who does all the things with them.
With that said, I really have no organization as to how I am sharing my favorites from the week. Just simply sharing things that made me smile.
On Monday the girls and I made some playdough, which I scented with clove and cinnamon oil. This stuff isn’t extract, but very concentrated oil. I use it when I make pickled watermelon rind.
I also snapped this picture of the girls at the table. Annabelle and Autumn were both doing a color by number, and Aubrie insisted that she sit at the table and color as well.
We crossed off making ornaments from our bucket list this week. We made baking soda ornaments this week. They didn’t turn out quite as I expected, but the girls had a blast, which is what I wanted. I may still do a blog post about it, since it was fun, and I liked how they turned out better than salt dough ornaments.
I also made this very yummy toffee. I will be putting the recipe on my blog next week, and I can’t wait to share it!
We also got a little bit of snow and the girls had fun playing outside. They go so fast down that slide, and think it’s the best ever.
The other day I saw either in a blog post, or on Pinterest, that Drew Barrymore and Keanu Reeves were in remake of Babes in Toyland, so I decided to give it a watch while Matt was playing X-Box. Pretty much what one would expect of an 80s movie.
I also finished up the gifts for Autumn’s teacher and the teacher helpers. All he helpers got a tumbler cozy and some candy.
I crocheted a scar for her teacher, and gave it to her along with a gift card to Olive Garden. I used this printable to find out what everyone liked/didn’t. And surprisingly enough, almost everyone said that the didn’t want any more Starbucks gift cards! I was pretty surprised, but there isn’t a really a Starbucks close to the school, so maybe that’s why (if they live around the school).
