Yay for Friday! I’m so excited the weekend is here, and that I can sleep in a little bit. We don’t have anything major planned, but sometimes those are the best weekends.
One: What was for Dinner
Sometimes I think it’s fun to share what we had for dinner for the week. If anything maybe it gives others some ideas on what to include in their dinner rotation.
Sunday: Short rib roast with homemade sourdough
Monday: Beef stew- no picture, but you can find my recipe here. Please forgive the set up, as it was one of my earlier blog posts. I really need to update it.
Tuesday: Chicken tortilla soup in the crock pot
Wednesday: choose your own leftovers
Thursday: Choose your own leftovers
Friday: Left over mulligatawny soup
Saturday: chose your own leftovers
As you see we do have a lot of leftovers this week. Sometimes your meals just make a lot, and you end up with so much leftover. As I am really trying to cut our grocery bill down, we are going to use as much of them as I can. I even eat some for lunch, so I am honestly surprised at how much we have.
Two: Ladies night
On Tuesday I got to hang out with some of my dear friends. One I’ve known since we were 6, the other since middle school. We didn’t do anything too exciting. Just hung out at a house, ate some snacks and chatted. But sometimes that is all you need. No pictures, since we were all too busy talking.
Three: Baking all the things
In an effort to not spend so much on snacks (and because we were pretty low on snacks since I am trying to go every other week to the grocery store) I made a few yummy items! I made sandwich bread (because we were out), chocolate chip cookies, banana chocolate chip muffins, and blueberry bagels. All of them were made with with home milled flour. I hope to get the cookie and bagel recipe on the blog in the near future. If your not crazy like me, and buy your flour like a normal person, you can check out my banana chocolate chip muffin recipe out.
Four: Books I’ve read
I recently finished Dreamland by Nicholas Sparks, which I really enjoyed (but then again I like most Nicholas Sparks books). It is all about a farmer (who is also a musician) who takes two weeks off his farm life to play some gigs at a beach town in Florida. While we read about his life, we also meet a young mother who is fleeing from an abusive relationship. The two worlds eventually collide.
I have now started Mean Streak, by Sandra Brown, and I am enjoying that book as well.
Five: What I’ve been creating
I’ve finally finished crocheting the angel tree topper that I’ve been meaning to do for like three years. I still have to make a dress for her, but then I will be done!
I also started on a craft with some yarn I got for Christmas. I’m using the alpine stitch, and hopefully it comes together how I have it in my head. If it does, then I will for sure share the pattern on the blog.
I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
