Happy Friday friends! I hope everyone had a great week, I know our was pretty awesome, so let’s recap!
One: SNOW!!
We finally got some snow!! In fact we got enough snow for a snow day! There was much debate at whether or not to do an early dismissal or just call the day (the powers that be predicted the storm would start around 8am, with the heavy stuff falling a little later. So the morning would have been ok, but dismissal a nightmare), and I am so glad they called it. I mean part of the fun of a snow day is not having to get the kids to school. The girls wore their pajamas backwards, flushed ice down the toilet, and slept with a frozen spoon under their pillow.
This was fabulous packing snow, and the kids had a blast. The girls all made their snowmen on their own, and only needed my help with putting the balls on top. After playing out in the snow for round two we came inside to have some yummy homemade hot chocolate.
Two: My finished ear warmer/hat
I finally got to taking a picture of the ear warmer/hat I made. I honestly don’t know what to call it. It’s a little wide for an ear warmer, but just a tad small for a hat. It is basically like one of those ponytail hats, but the opening is just a bit larger. Autumn said that she wants one, so I will probably play with the design a little, then hopefully get it up the blog.
Three: Girl Scouts
This week was another meeting date for girl scouts. Our first grade Daisies were finishing up their automotive badge by building the car their team designed at the last meeting.
I also wanted to share the “vest” I made for Aubrie. Since I am a leader, she get dragged to a lot of events. Thankfully our troop is open to that, and even gets her the occasional badge or patch. So I made her a vest, and she was so happy.
I also love sharing all the patches/badges Annabelle and Autumn have. They work hard at earning them and I am so proud. If you have a scout of any kind, and find that patches are falling off, I suggest using invisible thread to sew them on. I’ve been doing it since last year and it really helps everything stay in place. I use it with my sewing machine. I put the invisible thread on top (and change the tension down to like 2), then a thread color that matches the vest in the bobbin.
This is Autumn’s second year as a Daisy and Annabelle’s first as a Junior, so Autumn has more badges and patches since they are from last year as well.
On a side note… we are heading into cookie booth season, so don’t be surprised when all my posts mention that we were working a booth. LOL
Four: Cats
These cats are something else. They now love sitting on our laps (usually of the one with super comfy blanket). Even though they cause trouble (Pearl tried jumping in the fridge today) we love them.
Five: This weeks dinner plans
Sunday: Stone Pizza
Monday: Sloppy Joe with potatoes
Tuesday: Frozen leftover ham
Wednesday: Beef barley soup. This was originally supposed to be on the menu for next week, but with the snow day, I knew I had to make it. I think I’m going to try a few changes, then share it on the blog.
Thursday: Leftovers of some sort (Thursday we are at the dance studio from 5-7, so it’s kinda every man for himself)
Friday: Tacos
Saturday: Frozen Leftovers
I hope that everyone has a fabulous weekend! Saturday is derby day for girl scouts, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing cars.
