Today I’m linking up with Holly of Pink Lady for her Monthly Musing link up!
1. If you celebrate Christmas, what are your traditions?
We have a few different traditions. Obviously this year is going to look a lot different. First off we bake all the holiday cookies we can. We keep them in the garage (and we live in MI where it gets cold) so they keep for quite some time.
On Christmas Eve we celebrate with Matt’s side of the family. We, along with the aunts, uncles, and cousins, go to Banner and Cuk’s house (what we call Matt’s grandparents) and head to Christmas Eve Mass around 5pm. Then we come back to eat a bunch of appetizers and open presents.
Christmas morning is spent opening presents at home. Then we either go to my parents house, or they come here. After we celebrate with my side of the family. Once again all the aunts, uncles, and cousins go to the hosts house. Us cousins rotate who hosts. This year was supposed to be my year, but #covid.
2. If you celebrate Hanukkah, what are you traditions?
We don’t celebrate Hanukkah, but I still try to talk with my girls about it. We have a few Hanukkah books that we put out with the Christmas books. I really want to get Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins.
3. What are your holiday plans this year?
A whole lot of staying home.
4. Favorite recipe you are willing to share?
Magic cookie bars!
Also known as 7 layer bars. My mom always made them, now I do too. Here is the recipe we use, from the Eagle Brand website.
5. What are you most looking forward to in 2021?
I am praying that schools will be open without fear of going remote for an extended period of time. When I made the decision to pull Annabelle and home school her, never did I think I would still be at it.
6. Gift wrapping…. love it or hate it?
I love gift wrapping! I don’t have any pictures of my own, but I love adding little embellishments to packages. I am also a firm believer in wrapping all the kids gifts (they just get wrapped, now bows or anything). I think there is way more joy in tearing off wrapping paper, than opening a gift bag. 😉
7. What are you having as your holiday meal?
The main course is ham. Then we will probably have green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, maybe cheesy potatoes.
8. Open gifts Christmas eve or Christmas morning?
Gifts from Santa and mom and dad get opened Christmas morning.
9. What are you doing New Year’s Eve?
The same thing we do every night…. stay at home. <— said in the voice of Brain from Pinky and the Brain
10. Do you you have a word for 2021?
Honestly, I haven’t thought much about 2021. 2020 has been such a dumpster fire, and I just hope that 2021 is better.
I also guess that I didn’t take that many pictures last year of Christmas day, so there aren’t that many pictures in the post.
