We finally made it to Friday. I swear this week just dragggggged. I don’t know if it is the gloomy weather, or if it was just a long week. I am so glad that Friday is here, and that we are going to start putting the tree up today!!
While the tree may be going up (I reasoned with my husband that it takes me a long time to get all the lights on the tree, and since Thanksgiving is late this year we need to put it up soon), my house is still decorated for Thanksgiving. So I figured I’d give a little Thanksgiving house tour.
ONE: THE MANTEL
I am really digging how the mantel turned out. I didn’t have a lot of “fall” items to work with, but after a quick trip to JoAnn Fabrics, and going through all the sale stuff at Kroger I found some great items.
I made the Give Thanks blocks, and the pom pom garland. Annabelle made the scarecrow in preschool, and both girls painted the little canvases.
TWO: THE FOYER
I feel like this looks so bland compared to what I had at Halloween. I really wanted to make a banner to hang on the wall, but alas, I ran out of time. I made this sign at The Barn in Northville. Let me tell you, the weeding took so long, but it was worth it!
THREE: THE BATHROOM
So, not a whole lot, but I did put this sign in the bathroom. Next year I hope to buy more leave garland to put up. Maybe some signs to hang on the wall. But I really do love how the sign turned out. You can check out this post to see how I did it. And if you have a silhouette you can even get the cut file. Yes, I blurred out the name. While I know it would probably be easy to find my last name, I try not to post it.
FOUR: DINNING ROOM TABLE
Last year we did not have a dinning room table to decorate. My MIL moved, and gave us her dinning room table since it wouldn’t work in her new condo. This is the first time I have actually been able to decorate it! If I didn’t have kids or a jerk cat that jumps up on the table when he things we aren’t watching, I would have already had the china and napkin rings set up.
FIVE: THE CHALKBOARD
I really like how this chalkboard turned out, and I will probably be a little sad when I change it. I’m also sad to say that the chalkboard is breaking. 🙁 I’ve had it for close to seven years (I started using it to document my weeks when I was pregnant with Annabelle). Matt noticed too and commented he’d have to make me a new one. I’m thinking it needs a bit more of a decorative frame, and maybe a few inches wider. Thoughts?
Well there you have it! As soon as Thanksgiving is over it will all be coming down in order to put up all the Christmas things!
In case you missed it on the blog this week I shared:
