On a budget, or like to DIY it. Then this easy DIY pom pom garland is for you! Read on to learn about how to make it yourself.
On November 1st my Halloween decorations came down, and I began putting up Thanksgiving decorations. I quickly realized that I didn’t really have much to use so headed to the store. I know I shouldn’t have been surprised, but I was. When I got there, almost all of the fall decor was gone, and Christmas stuff was in it’s place. Now, I’ll be honest. It took everything in me not to buy any new Christmas stuff.
But since I couldn’t find anything I was looking for, and in an effort to not spend any money I decided to make my own.
Making your own Pom Pom Garland is so easy!
Chose your yarn, and wrap it
The wider the item you wrap it and the more times you go around will result in a bigger, fuller pom pom. I used my hand which is about 3.5″ wide.
Slip it off and tie around the middle
Next up is to tie it around the middle. Be sure to leave long strands since you will be tying it around the string you use for your garland.
Snip the loops
This one is pretty easy, snip the loops.
Make it fluffy
So this is a trick I read about somewhere (I wish I could remember so I could give credit where credit is due). Get a dog brush, and brush your yarn. It makes the yarn unravel and get all soft and poofy. Don’t do it too hard, or you will pull and the strands out.
Tie it on your garland string
So to do this I separated the main string into four sections.
Then tried to space the pom pom as evenly as I could.
Beware… little ones think this is lots of fun!
Use the strings from the pom poms to tie them onto the garland string.
Hang it and enjoy!
I now want to this easy diy pom pom garland for all the holidays.
