Happy Friday everyone! I hope that you all are staying healthy and sane. Is everyone excited for the weekend? Anyone doing anything fun for Valentine’s Day? Matt and I are just going to be eating some smoked filet mignon that we made over the summer and then froze. I’m thinking of making some chocolate covered strawberries or macaroons, but we will see.
Annabelle and Autumn have mid February break next week, and I’m trying to psych myself up for it. I love my girls, but have really been enjoying the two hours of silence while they are at school and Aubrie is napping. It’s been glorious.
Anyhow, on to this weeks Friday Favorites
What I’ve read lately
I have finished two books since February started.
The first was The Other Women. Which is about a women whos is getting married, but the MIL is seemingly out to get her. It was a very good read.
The second was Behind Closed Doors. And holy cow was this book intense. I finished it in a little over a day because I simply could not put it down. I had to know what would happen next. It kept me so anxious the whole time. I saw my MIL (who is the one who gave me both of the books), and I asked if she had as much anxiety reading it as I did.
After those two book, I figured it was time for something a bit lighter, so I checked out Kiss My Cupcake and Natalie Tan’s Book of Good Luck and Fortune.
I finished another hat
I know I just posted about my Snowfall hat, but I finished that hat last month and was already working this heart one. I finished it this week, and it actually fit Annabelle (yay!). I’m now starting one for Autumn, and I hope to have this pattern on the blog at some point in time.
What we ate
Sunday: Nachos
Monday: choose your own leftovers
Tuesday: Homemade Chicago pizza from Sally’s Baking Addiction. It was so good!! We have made Chicago pizza in the past, and this is by far the best recipe we used.
Wednesday: IP Chicken Shawarma with homemade pitas, rice, green beans
Can I just say how please I am with how most of the pitas turned out.
Thursday: another choose your own leftover day, because we have a ton of food in the fridge.
Friday: Hotdogs with some sort of side vegetable
Saturday: Order Pizza
I also wanted to make note that some of meals aren’t exactly what I would consider “healthy” (I’m looking at your Chicago pizza). If you read my Healthy Habits blog post you know I am trying to make lifestyle changes. Because I want to maintain these changes I don’t want to give up meals that I love. It’s all about balance. On the days I know my dinner is a bit on the heavy side I try to lighten my eating.
Latest Amazon purchases
I usually don’t talk much about what I get from Amazon because I honestly don’t get that much (let’s be honest, most of my money goes to JoAnns). But I am pretty excited about these two items.
Lintelek Fitness Tracker
I had mentioned to Matt that I’ve been wanting a FitBit (or something similar) for a while now. I’d love to have a better idea of how many calories I am actually burning while doing HIIT and strength training. I am also curious as to how much I really move around during the day. Matt found this Tracker, and the reviews seem pretty good, so we went ahead and got it. At $25.98 if I really hate it I can get a different one.
Ninja Max XL Air Fryer
We also decided to get this Air Fryer. A few years ago we purchased a Delonghi Air Fryer, but I never liked anything that I made it in. It also wasn’t really like other air fryers I have seen, So it’s been collecting dust in our downstairs cabinet. It totally turned me off from air frying, since nothing ever turned out. Matt and I talked, and figured we just didn’t get the right type, and so the Ninja Max should be arriving today. We have a Ninja Coffee maker and blender and have always been happy with their products. So now you need to give me all your air fryer recipes. 🙂
I hope that everyone has a great weekend, and if you are doing something for Valentine’s Day have fun! If you need a sweet treat idea, check out this dessert board. 🙂
