We made it through another week. The girls were home on break this week, and while I had hoped to be super productive with my blog, that didn’t really pan out. Here’s hoping I can get back to a routine once the older girls are back in school. So what were some of my favorites from the week?
Snow! Snow!
Monday into Tuesday we got hit with, what I would call, our first big snow fall. When all was said and done we got about 8ish inches. The girls had a blast stomping around in the snow.
Annabelle is sitting in this picture (or maybe kneeling) but it’s still a lot of snow.
What I read
I finished Natalie Tan’s Book of Luck and Fortune by Roselle Lim, and I very much enjoyed it. It was a nice break from the crime/mystery books I had read. In the book, Natalie returns home after her mothers death and realizes that she has inherited her Grandmother’s restaurant along with her Grandmother’s cookbook. After visiting the neighborhood seer, she is told in order to be successful she must help three people from the neighborhood by cooking a meal for them.
I think that my love of cooking may have made me enjoy this book more. I am now reading Awaking by Nora Roberts and loving it. It is book number one of a fantasy trilogy.
What I baked
We did do some baking this break. Since we had bananas turning brown on the counter we made my chocolate banana muffins. So tasty!
We also made some chocolate chip M&M cookies. On Tuesday when the girls and I went outside I started to shovel our drive. Our neighboor’s kid (well teenage son, so not really “kid”) was out snowblowing their driveway, then came over and did ours for us. I was so grateful, since shoveling that much snow is no fun. The girls and I decided to bake some cookies to drop off (along with a little bit of cash) as a thank you.
Daily steps
Last week I mentioned that I got a fitness tracker. I’ve been loving using it to track my steps. I really had no idea how much I walked in a day, so it’s been fun to see that. So far I average about 10000 steps.
The main reason I wanted one was to see how many calories I actually burn while doing my workouts. I use Fitness blender, and they give a range of what you may burn, and I was sad to see that mine was lower than that even. I know that I am working hard (I mean I’m huffing and puffing, and finding it hard to talk), so I’m not sure if I have the tracker in the wrong space so it’s not accurately reading my HR, or maybe I’m just not working out as hard as I think.
Sledding
I took the girls to a local park to go sledding, and they had a blast! Well, until the sled veered into a snow bank, toppled over, and Aubrie got a face full of snow….
Mars landing
It was so cool to be able to watch the Mars landing with my girls. I got a bit teary eyed when we talked about how many people it took to make this happen.
On the blog
In case you missed it, here is what I blogged about this week:
10 on the 10th
Zipper Pen Pouch
I hope that everyone has a fabulous weekend! I’m really hoping to get a sample made of Annabelle’s First Communion shirt. I already had to adjust the pattern once, and I’m hoping that will make things better. I’m glad I have a bunch of fabric I got for free that I can use to work on a pattern until I get it right.
