I hope that everyone had a restful weekend! We spent lots of time outside in the pool, and enjoyed celebrating Father’s Day with our families. I also made another Fourth of July craft that I am going to share with you today. I had bought this wooden USA shape after Fourth of July last year (or maybe even the year before) with the intent of painting it, and I finally got around to doing it. So here is a let freedom ring free cut file.
Step one:
First things first, you need to is download your file.
Step two:
After you download your file, go ahead and cut it then weed it. I used Oramask 813 Stencil Film to cut my stencil. Once it is cut and weeded you need to use contact paper or silhouette transfer tape and press it onto your design. This will allow you to move the design to your wood.
Step three:
Now you need to peel the back off the stencil tape. You can see that the actual stencil is sticking to the contact paper.
Step Four:
Now you can put the stencil where you would like. Make sure you press down the design well, particularly the stars. You want to make sure they stick to the wood.
Step five:
Now you need to peel the contact paper off. Be sure to go slow. If part of the stencil doesn’t stick, just lay the contact paper back down, and press it down to help it stick.
Step six:
Now you can paint! You don’t need a lot of paint. I use a foam paint brush, but you could also use a foam make up applicator. Just dip the brush in the paint and dab it onto your design.
I ended up using glitter on the word freedom. I just sprinkled it on the wet paint, but it didn’t end up sticking very well. If I were to do it again, I would let the paint dry, then dab on some elmers glue mixed with water to put the glitter on. Live and learn right?
Step Seven:
Pull the stencil off and admire your handiwork!
You could also use this file with HTV. You just need to make sure that you mirror the image before you cut.
