Last week we had a board meeting for the Mom’s Club, and I brought some Maple Sugar cookies. They turned out pretty yummy, and are a great fall treat! They don’t have an overwhelming maple flavor, and have a slight gingerbread taste.
Here are the step by step directions, to get the recipe you can scroll to the bottom of the page.
ONE:
Mix the flour, baking soda, and cloves together in a small bowl.
TWO:
Beat the butter until fluffy.
THREE:
Add the sugars, egg and syrup and blend.
FOUR:
Slowly add the flour mixture to the butter mixture. This is what you will end up with.
FIVE:
For the dough into two disks, wrap in plastic wrap and place in fridge for at least 3 hours, or until firm and not sticky.
Note: If the dough is too sticky to work with add flour 2-3 tablespoons at a time,
SIX:
After the dough it firm take out one disk at a time to work with. Roll the dough until it is 1/4 inch thick.
Note: This dough needs to stay cool or it becomes to sticky to work with. I actually took out 1/2 a disk at a time to work wit.
SEVEN:
Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 325 degrees for 8-10 minutes, until the edges start to brown. You have to take the cookies off the cookie sheet pretty much after you take them out of the oven, or they stick to the sheet.
EIGHT:
Decorate the cookies how you would like to! I used powdered sugar and milk frosting on mine.
Enjoy! 🙂
