Clearly it has been a bit since I last posted. I have been trying to take everything in stride but it has been hard.
For those who don’t know I live in Michigan (which has the third highest COVID-19 cases and therefore some of the strictest shelter in place orders in the country. For example I can not go and see my parents, even if we visit outside and keep an appropriate social distance) and tensions among residents are for sure high. Both sides of the aisle have been so hostile towards each other, and our leaders that I am trying hard to stay off of Facebook and the news. All the negativity is doing me no good. So today I am trying to focus on the good, and I give you five things I am thankful for
One: Spending time Outside
We have been trying to spend lots of time outside. Well, except for today where we are supposed to get a few inches of snow. That’s #puremichigan for your. Drawing with chalk has been a favorite, as has watching Aubrie try to blow bubbles.
Two: More reading
I love that being at home has given me more time to read with Annabelle. During the normal school year, by the time we get home from school it’s pretty late and I usually end up needing to get dinner started. It doesn’t leave a ton of time for me to sit down and listen to Annabelle read. Now I can and I love it!
Annabelle just finished the first book in the Ice Princess Diaries. I ordered the next two from Amazon and can’t wait to get them.
Three: Our teachers
Our teachers have been working so hard to keep our kids engaged. As a former teacher I can’t even imagine what they are going through right now. I am so grateful for all the Google classroom activities they have been providing, and Zoom meeting planned.
Four: Baking fun
Baking has always been something I enjoy doing. The girls and I have been doing a lot more of it! Granola bars, bread, pizza, and funnel cakes are just some of the things we have been doing.
Five: Our safety
I am very grateful to all the essential workers. Thankfully Matt is able to work from home most of the time, and we don’t need to go out. I am trying hard to make the most out of our time together, and focusing on watching my girls strengthen their sister bond.
