I hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend! We for sure had a busy one, but with loads of fun! And, for a change, with no cookie booths!
Friday
On Friday we were once again under a winter storm warning. Annabelle was hopeful for a snow day, but the storm ended up not starting until 4pm, so to school the kids went. But, because of the storm we weren’t able to go to Red Robin to celebrate Annabelle’s birthday as anticipated. I wasn’t planning on making a cake (since we would be celebrating at Red Robin), but plans changed due to the snow and I made a “cat cake” as asked. While not my best work, it was a last minute deal. And it tasted great.
After cake we opened presents. One of the presents we got Annabelle was Exploding Kittens, so we played that, then played a game called Tonk. After it was time to go out and do round one of shoveling the massive amount of wet, heavy snow we got. That took a lot out of Matt and I so we pretty much relaxed until bed time.
Saturday
On Saturday we awoke to a winter wonderland, full of damaged trees. The girls thought the snow was great fun, and had a blast playing, while Matt and dug out the bottom of our driveway. The plows had come, so there was lots to dig out. If you have never dug out wet plowed snow consider yourself lucky!
Once again this snow was wet and heavy, so it weighed down all of the trees. And it actually did a number on our arborvitae. If anyone knows how to save damaged arborvitae please let me know. We have no idea what to do. And we lost some branches on other trees (as did many other people).
After playing outside it was time to get ready for Annabelle’s birthday party at a local trampoline park. All the girls let me do their hair, and it made me quite excited.
After the trampoline park we came home and hung out until it was time to go to Red Robin to celebrate Annabelle’s birthday (again). In the past the girls have always asked for McDonalds for their birthday dinner. This year Annabelle asked if we could to a restaurant and sit down. I was so excited to go to an actual restaurant and not get fast food. By the time we got home it was pretty late so it was off to bed for the girls.
Sunday
On Sunday we were up bright and early for Family Faith Formation. After it was off to Mass with my parents. We sat in the “big church” (aka the sanctuary) for the first time since Annabelle was born! We usually sit in the kid room, but I think Aubrie is old enough now to handle being in the actual church. She did a good job (although did end up falling asleep on me).
After we got home the girls wanted to head outside to play. Our neighbor ended up coming over, and the girls were overjoyed since it’s been a hot minute since they’ve played.
Also, when you can let your kids play outside without being outside…. it’s amazing. I was able to get some laundry done, and clean up the crazy mess of our house. After the girls got tired of playing, they came back inside. I let them know if they cleaned up they could play Mario, then we would watch a movie. They did a great job tidying up, and we ended up watching Ant-Man.
For dinner we had pot roast and some homemade bread. It had been a while since I made some bread, so I’m glad I was finally able to bake some.
After the kids went to bed Matt and I just relaxed.
I hope that everyone has a great week!
