So…. how many of you are currently trying to shovel yourself out of your house? It is hard to believe how much snow we got yesterday and last night. I don’t think I ever remember getting so much snow at once. Now that the snow has passed, we are getting hit with arctic air. Temperatures feeling like -20s to -30s with the windchill. Schools are closed for today, and many have already closed for tomorrow due to the dangerously cold temperatures. I am thankful that I can stay cozy in my house and don’t have to venture outside (and thankful that Matt has a job in which he can call in).
You know who I feel bad for? The mailmen / mailwomen. They have to
drive or walk through the un-plowed neighborhoods. I can imagine on
days like today (where everyone is getting stuck) is awful.
Any how…as you can see from these pictures, the cold isn’t putting a damper on Annabelle’s mood!
I also wanted to post some pictures of Annabelle in a dress I sewed her (my mother in law got me a few books about sewing baby clothes, this was the first dress I tried (I used left over fabric I had from making an apron for Matt’s grandma, so if I made a mistake it would be a huge deal). I had to put this dress over a onesie since it is more of a summer dress, but it still looks pretty cute. My next project is a Valentine’s Day dress. Also, i think its funny that Annabelle is sitting in a cubby hole in our coffee table (while technically it’s a TV stand, but we use it as a coffee table/toy storage. It works rather well). She is really into exploring now that she can crawl, and is having fun discovering the house, as well as putting anything she finds into her mouth (I knew this day would come, it snuck up on me though)!
At any rate, Matt and I are planning on taking down the Christmas tree today :(, then we will probably spend the rest of the playing with Annabelle. How do you like to spend days when you are trapped in your house?
A little update… we have no water upstairs. Around 10:00 we go upstairs to get ready for bed. I go to brush my teeth and nothing. We check the shower, nothing. I called my dad (who thankful lives very close) who came over to see what we he and Matt could do. We are pretty sure the water froze, the worry is that the pipes burst, which will result in gushing water flooding our house (and our nice new kitchen). Let’s hope for no burst pipes.
Update #2:
We got our water back around 11:30pm. Matt to climb in the attic above the garage and use my hair dryer to warm up the pipes. He then put some insulation around the pipes to hopefully help them from freezing up again. In the mean time we have to keep the tub upstairs slowly dripping, so that the water in the pipes keeps on moving. Why water pipes are in an uninsulated attic is beyond me. Thankfully the pipes hadn’t burst, so it wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
