I hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend! It always amazes me how quickly the weekend goes by. I feel it went even faster than normal since I had subbed Thursday and Friday the day before.
Derby
So the main focal point of our weekend was Derby Day! Our girl scout troop hosted the Derby for our whole service unit, and I believe there were about 55 cars that participated! We allowed siblings to participate as well, so Aubrie had a car too. She was so excited to be like her sisters. While my girls didn’t come home with a win, they did make it past the first few eliminations. We were there from about 9:30-2:30, so it took up most of our day.
Also… my hair isn’t super short, just in a messy bun. Looking at these photos it looks like I chopped it all off… which I didn’t.
I’m not sure where Aubrie’s car ended up. But hers was all modge podged with glitter.
Baking
So I am trying to perfect my bagel recipe using home ground flour. After some research I learned many people let the bagels proof in the oven overnight. So I tried that. Unfortunately they kind of deflated after boiling (my guess is that they were overproofed). While they were tasty, the inside was much to fluffy. So I will tweak my recipe and keep experimenting. I have a feeling by the end of this my family will never want to see a bagel again.
I also made two loafs of sourdough bread. It’s been a few weeks since I baked any, so it was nice to have the house smell like a bakery again.
Snow
We also spent some time outside in the snow. The girls had a blast piling up the snow I was shoveling off the driveway into a hill to “go sledding”. I told them one of these days we will go to the actually sledding hill so they can sled for real.
I hope that everyone has a fabulous week. I can’t believe that February starts this week! We’ve made it through one of my least favorite months. I’m looking forward to some Valentine decor, and hopefully some Valentine’s day sweets.
