While this weekend wasn’t too busy, I always love reading about what other people are up to.
Friday
Friday night we really didn’t do too much. I subbed for a 1/2 day in the morning, then had to do my grocery shopping in the afternoon. One of the Aldi workers who Aubrie always says hi to, made the comment about how we were in much later than normal (usually I go first thing in the morning). She is such a nice working, and always listens when Aubrie tells her about her day, or the cats, or her sisters.
By the time I got home unloaded the groceries and washed the fruit it was time to pick up the older girls. I was pretty beat so I let them watch TV and play the Nintendo Switch they got for Christmas. In general I try not to let them play during the week, but am much more lenient on the weekends. Brought back memories of me playing my Sega Genesis. On a side note, if you want to learn more about the history of video games, you should check out the episode of The Toys that Built America on the History Channel.
Saturday
On Saturday Annabelle had a girl scout outing. She, and some of the members of her troop, went to a Journey in a Day workshop where they earned their Get Moving Journey. I was able to drop Annabelle off (two of the leaders from our troop stayed) and then go back home to hang out with Autumn and Aubrie. I love that Annabelle is getting older and can start doing more on her own. But it is a little bit bittersweet since she is getting older. Aubrie of course had to come with me when I picked up the girls, and insisted on being in the picture. Thankfully all the girls in the troop include her when she is there.
After the girls went to bed Matt and I watched two movies. Level 16, a strange, Black Mirror-esque movie about girls in a school who are waiting to be adopted by sponsors. After that we watched 1408 an older psychological thriller movie staring John Cusack from 2007. In it, he is a paranormal writer who stays in haunted hotel rooms and then writes books about his experience. Both movies were ok, but we have for sure seen better.
Sunday
On Sunday I had to be up bright and early (I’m talking 6:30) so we could make it to Faith Formation before church. Last year our church started a new form of religious formation. So while Autumn and Annabelle are in their class, the parents stay and take some deep dives into different parts of the mass. I drop Aubrie off at my parents, do a car seat swap, then head to church. After faith formation, we meet up with my mom for Mass.
You know how I was saying we haven’t had any snow? Well while we were at church it started snowing! Thankfully it wasn’t super bad to drive in. unfortunately before church Annabelle slipped on some ice and fell, so she was in some pain and didn’t want to play outside. But I think the snow is supposed to stick around for a while (and we may possibly get more Wednesday), so I can finally get my January pictures in the snow!
The rest of Sunday was spent playing catch up on laundry and other chores, as well as making some homemade stone pizza. I made pepperoni, cheese, ham/bacon/pineapple, and margarita. The dough didn’t turn out quite right, so I’m hoping I can figure out what changes need to be made to make a good pizza crust with home milled flour.
This cat loves hanging out in the clean laundry.
I hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend and has a wonderful week!
