Did y’all yell Jumangi at midnight so we can beat the game?! It really is hard to believe that it is already 2021. While parts of 2020 just seemed to drag on, other parts seemed to speed right by. In the next few weeks I’ll be sharing my goals recap of 2020, and the goals I have planned for 2021.
But, first I thought it would be fun to share my top five posts from 2020. Just a disclaimer, some of these posts are actually from years past, but they still bring a lot of traffic to my blog. I kinda of talk in each one why I think the post brought in traffic. Sorry if it’s boring, but I find it helpful when other people talk about analytics, so hopefully some of you will too.
ONE: DIY Interchangable Mask Necklace
Well this is for sure a post I never thought I’d have to write, but you know #COVID. What is super crazy to me is that this is the post that had the most views of 2020, but it was only published in July. If you search “interchangeable mask necklace” my post is the first that pops up on google (!!!!!) which may have lots to do with it’s standing as my #1 post. I also have quite a few images on Pinterest for this post, so that may have something to do with it as well.
TWO: Starting the Day with Cafe Bustelo
It surprised me how high up this post was! This was a sponsored post that I did three years ago. I wonder if it had to do with lots of people trying to make their own coffee at home due to working from home. Whatever the case, it drove lots of traffic to my blog. Which also goes to show, you never know when an old post may take off.
THREE: Simple French Onion Soup
This post is from 2019, and was in my top ten posts of 2019. I think that everyone always love a good and easy French Onion soup. I also suspect that the new pins I made helped gain some traction (and once again maybe people aren’t going out as much as they did last year).
FOUR: Hot Mulled Apple Cider Sangria
Another post that is three years old. For some reason, unknown to me, this post took off in September and October. Then as quickly as it took off, it kinda plummeted on November 1st. I wish I could figure out why it took off (so I can try to get the same to happen to other posts) or why it plummeted. I have a feeling Pinterest has something to do with it, but who knows. I also just realized that if you search “mulled apple cider sangria” it is on the first page of google (!!), so maybe it’s just that more people wanted to make it in September and October. I am happy it did so well in September and October though, so beggars can’t be choosers. Hopefully next year it’ll do the same.
FIVE: How to Throw an Epic Surprise Party
Once again, this post is from 2019, and when I threw my mom, what I called, an epic surprise party. I actually had so much fun planning it, and my mom really had no idea whatsoever that I was planning it. Because I’m really curious what about this post got so many page views, I did a little digging. If you google “how to throw an epic surprise party” this post is on the first page of google (!!) which I assume is what brought in most of the traffic.
Overall, my blog did much better in 2020 than it did in 2019 in terms of pageviews and unique page views. If you’ve been following for a while, then you know that 2019 was a tough year of adjusting to being a mom of three. I had just started getting back to feeling like more of myself at the beginning of 2020 then Covid happened. I think I found somewhat of a schedule, but really want to do more in 2021.
