I hope everyone had a great weekend, and if you you celebrated Christmas I hope it was a joyous one.
Now that the anticipation of Christmas is gone, things are starting to settle down a little around here. Let’s take a look to see how we did on our Christmas Bucket List!
Take PJ pants pictures
While I didn’t finish the pants until a few days before Christmas, and I didn’t take the pictures until after Christmas (and after I scheduled this). I still got this done!
Watch Elf
I am so happy the girls like Elf. We even had some popcorn from our Elf tin. When I brought it home Matt just rolled his eyes at me.
Look at Christmas lights
Once again, it happened after Christmas, but we got it done.
North Pole breakfast
The girls were so excited about this! I prepared cinnamon rolls the night before (they still had to do the second rise the next morning), then got up early the next day to make the donuts and finish the cinnamon rolls. Since my girls get up obscenely early (like 6:30) they still had to wait around a bit for everything to be ready.
Make ornaments
This year the girls and I made baking soda ornaments. You can read more about that here.
Send cards
I got this done! Every year I make them in Canva, and order them right from Canva. It is so easy to do!
Make hot chocolate bombs
Well, the molds I ordered on December 7th never came, due to how backed up the USPS is. As of writing this I still have no idea where the package is. I will hopefully be able to get a refund. I’ve ordered some new ones and they should be here by the 28th <<fingers crossed>>. I had really wanted to use them for the North Pole breakfast, but alas the best laid plans of mice and men.
Read Christmas books
We read all the Christmas books. A favorite this year was The Chirstmas Blizzard
Bake Christmas cookies
While we didn’t bake as many cookies as we normally do (since there are now parties for me to bring a platter of cookies to), we did still make our favorites, and try a few new ones. Like these toffee ones.
Make gingerbread houses
I know it sounds crazy, but I really do love making gingerbread houses with the girls. You can check out me tips and tricks in this post.
Play in the snow
I guess I’ll give myself a pass on this, but unfortunately there hasn’t been a whole ton of snow this month. While I know we still have 3-4 more months of snow possibility I’m pretty bummed we didn’t have much. I love how Christmas lights look in the snow, and there is just something so magical about snow around Christmas time. Edited to add it snowed Christmas Eve night so we woke up to a white Christmas.
Surprise a neighbor
I really wanted to “Elf” a neighbor, but we just never got around to it. I also didn’t know if people would be apprehensive about it because of Covid.
Overall I’d say I did a pretty good job of getting these things checked off my list!
