Well the holidays have come and gone, so I figured I might as well share how our Christmas bucket list went!
Decorate the house: Check and check! I did this super early in the season, becuase I simply love the holiday season! You can check out my home tour here.
North Pole Breakfast: this is the only one I wasn’t able to get to. Life just got way to busy.
See Santa: I was really worried that we wouldn’t make it to see Santa, but thankfully we did! Autumn had a Christmas dance recital and afterwards we got to eat cookies and see Santa.
Read Christmas Books: as a former teacher I have acquired a great deal of seasonal books. I, by far, have the most Christmas books, which I always pull out at the start of the season. One of my favorites by far is the Polar Express, even if I can’t read the last page without getting choked up.
Bake Christmas Cookies: As always I baked a few different types of Christmas cookies, on top of making some sugar cookies to bring to Autumn’s Christmas dance recital. My parents also came over after school one day to bake gingerbread cookies with us. The girls chose the traditional colors of purple and turquoise to decorate them….
Gingerbread House: We got this knocked off our list too! I baked the house, but we didn’t actually decorate it until about two weeks later. Which is actually better since the pieces got hard, which is easier to assemble with. And would you believe the girls worked on decorating their houses for a good hour?! There was no fighting, and they needed minimal help from me. A little tip, decorate all the pieces first, let them dry, then assemble them. That way the candies don’t fall off.
Putting them together didn’t quite go as planned, but the girls still think they look awesome, which is all that counts. I think I’ll really have it down next year.
Celebrate Christmas: Since we had a newborn our Christmas was a bit different than normal. Matt, Aubrie, and I didn’t attend the Christmas Eve party with his family. His mom did take the girls though, so it was nice to have a bit more downtime with just the three of us. Then Christmas morning the girls were up bright and early. Later that afternoon my parents came over.
Make comfy pants: I totally made some for the girls, but they just never made it on the blog. I may have to make some more, just so I can show you all how simple it is!!
Play in the snow: Sadly we haven’t had that much snow here. We have made it outside when there was snow on the ground though!
Watch Elf: We did, but the girls weren’t that into it. Annabelle more so than Autumn, but she still wasn’t feeling it. Maybe next year will be better!
Have a baby: We got this done too! 😉
I am pretty happy that I almost got everything done!
