I am finally getting this knit coy on the blog, and I know pumpkins tend to be more of an October thing, I think they carry into November just fine. I’ve had this quick knitted pumpkin tumbler cozy done for quite some time, I’m just finally getting a chance to get it on the blog. You will have to forgive me as this is the first time I’m publishing a knitting pattern.
Materials
- size 4 worsted weight yarn in orange
- size 4 worsted weight yarn in green
- 4.5mm knitting needles
How to knit the quick knitted pumpkin tumbler cozy
Row 1: Start by casting on 45
Row 2: *knit 2, pearl 1* continue pattern until the end of the row, then flip over.
Row 3: *Pearl 2, knit 1* continue pattern until the end of the row then flip over
Continue this pattern until you have 14 rows
Row 15: Add green and do 15 pearl stitches across
Row 16: Knit stitch across
THIS IS THE START OF THE STEM
Row 16: cast off 20 stitches (using pearl stitch), then pearl 5 stitches on. Flip work over. It should look like the picture below. You can see the cast of stitches on the left.
Row 17: Now you will knit stitch those 5 stitches. So you will end up with all of your stitches on one needle
Row 18: flip your work over, and pearl 5 stitches. So you will end up with this:
Row 19: Flip your work and knit five stitches. You will end up with this.
Row 20: Finally flip your work, and cast off four stitches, using the pearl stitch
Using that extra stitch do a slip stitch down the side of the stem, to get to the stitches on the other side of the stem. Then cast off (using the pearl stitch), and you are done.
Last up is to use a tapestry needle to join the ends and make it a tube. Throw it on a tumbler and enjoy your hot beverage.
I also have a pattern for a super simple chunky cable knit mug cozy.
And, I have this pattern for a fun crochet cozy.
I just think there is something so fun about cozies! I love making them since they come together so quickly, and you can make just about any type of one!
