I hope you all aren’t tired of my Halloween posts! I’ve for sure transitioned into fall mode on the blog, even if the temps are still in the upper 80s here (and no, I did not get a PSL yesterday. I think they are gross).
At any rate, last fall I bought a shirt with every intention of doing a Hocus Pocus shirt, but never got around too. Then inspiration hit, and I made this subtle tribute to Hocus Pocus with this Sanderson Sisters’ Apothecary shirt.
When I showed Matt the shirt he gave such a look. He does not appreciate my love of Hocus Pocus.
Materials needed for Sanderson Sisters’ Apothecary Shirt
- Shirt
- HTV- I used siser easyweed stretch (this links to white as I can’t find black on Amazon)., but siser easyweed should work too.
- Silhouette I have a Cameo 3, this link goes to the 4 which looks pretty awesome. There is a roll holder for vinyl so you can cut directly from the roll!! That means no need to cut off the roll and put on the mat. This would be especially cool for stencil film. If Silhouette is reading this and wants me to review the Cameo 4, I’d be game! 😉
- Iron or heat press (I recently got the Cricut Easy press and love it)
- Parchment paper or thin cloth

Get to weeding
I did not take any picture of myself weeding, but you can take a look at my original Hocus Pocus shirt to get a better idea of what to do if you need it.
I should note, I used the Siser Easyweed Stretch HTV and it was a bear to weed. I ended up needing to re-cut the bottom line since the first time it didn’t work well at all.
And because I didn’t want to waste HTV, I used a super small leftover strip. What ended up working better was slowing down the speed a little and cutting twice. I may have to play around a little more with it. The bigger details were cut fine the first time I did it, but cutting finer detail with the stretch HTV is hard.
Iron (or heat press) design on shirt and enjoy!
I think one of my favorite parts are the ingredients I listed. For those of you unfamiliar, they are the ingredients needed for the life potion in Hocus Pocus. I got a kick out of it. Matt, did not.
