We made it to another Friday! We had a few rainy days, and it was no fun being stuck inside. It looks like cloudy weather is in our forecast for the foreseeable future, but hopefully it’ll stay dry so we can get outside.
ONE: New Chalkboard
I finally erased the Easter chalkboard and drew a new one. I’m not 100% sure I like the “shine bright” banner and may change that part. It’s not like I don’t have the time.
TWO: Dinners
I figured this would be a good place to share our weekly dinners. I mean they usually aren’t anything to fancy, but they get job done.
Sunday: Moroccan grilled chicken
Monday: Left over pulled chicken sandwiches
Tuesday: Gumbo for us chicken nuggets for the girls
Wednesday: Spaghetti
Thursday: Chicken shawarma
Friday: South sea kabobs
Saturday: Grilled hot dogs and sausages
THREE: What I’m loving
The new appliances in our kitchen!!
Back around Halloween time our microwave stopped working. It was part of an oven/microwave combo so there was no just replacing the microwave. At the time Matt and I decided instead of another combo we would get a double oven and a microwave that sits on the counter (luckily we have lots of counter space). We bought the microwave back in October but were finally able to get the oven. I can’t wait for Thanksgiving.
Then just after Thanksgiving I noticed a crack in our glass cook top. It went across two burners! I didn’t want to use the burners for fear of making the crack worse, so I soldiered on with just two burners. It was brutal. Now we have a gas cook top and I am so excited!
FOUR: Baking adventures
This week we made the Magnolia chocolate chip cookies. I’ve gotta say, I wasn’t as impressed as I thought I would be. I am more of a chewy cookie fan, and these turned out crispy. I may try one more time by cooking them for less time, but Matt wasn’t a huge fan either (he thought they were too sweet).
We also made some cinnamon rolls. Tasty, tasty!
FIVE: Giving myself grace about screens
BQ (before quarantine) my kids didn’t use a whole lot of screens. Besides some TV at the end of the day we and the occsional educational game on my old I-Pad we stayed pretty screen free.
Enter COVID-19.
Now that all learning is done remotely screens are a part of our everyday life. Annabelle will watch lessons from her teacher, do i-ready (online lessons in the form of games for reading and math), and have Zoom meetings.
While Annabelle is doing some of her online learning (which are very game based) I allow Autumn to listen to books being read to her on the I-pad (you know because “it’s not fair that Bubba gets to play games”
I’ve been telling myself that this remote learning is different than screen time, and
On the blog
In case you missed it, I finally got around to getting the C2C crochet blanket on the blog!
