This weekend we threw Autumn’s 4th birthday party. She opted for a Hello Kitty Birthday party (after saying for months she wanted a Puppy Dog Pals one).
It was a great party and I think everyone had fun!
As always I decorated the foyer. I didn’t make a huge balloon arch this time (because I didn’t start it until about an hour before guests were set to arrive). I also put it together a bit differently. Instead of using my usual chicken wire tube, I simply used fishing line so string the balloons on. Though it was a little hard to hang up, it was soooo much easier, and will probably be how I do all future balloon arches.
I also like to display the goody bags on the front table (surround in this case by Halloween decorations. Here’s to hoping one year Autumn will want a Halloween themed party).
I totally forgot to take a picture of what was in the bags, but since I have some left over favors, I probably will in the future. Really I was just happy how the bags turned out.
What’s a party if there isn’t some food??
Here’s how the spread looked. I’m digging how the ruffle table cloth looked around the edge of the table. It was so easy to do, and just made the snack table look a bit fancy.
Besides the punch, chips and fruit I made cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, and circus animal popcorn (made with half white candy park and half pink melting chips).
I am so happy with how they turned out. I think my decorating skills have improved since I threw this Hello Kitty party for Annabelle when she turned three.
I used a stencil (the same I one I used for my Mom’s surprise party cookies) I made with Wilton food mist to do the dots, chevron and stripes. One of these days I’m going to play around with an air brush.
The chocolate covered pretzels were a hit.
I also made cupcakes for when we sang to Autumn. I find the cupcakes are sooo much easier than a cake for parties. I do make a small cake for when we celebrate as a family. Here is the cake I made this year.
For parties, cupcakes are the way to go. No cutting, no fighting over who gets what frosting, everyone just gets the same cupcake. Frosting them is super speedy to since I use a large star tip.
Once everyone arrived the kids all decorated their own shirt. While it didn’t entertain them for too long, I think they had fun!
Then we played a quick game of pin the bow on Hello Kitty.
We sang Happy Birthday, ate cupcakes, then finally it was time to open presents! You may notice a Pete the Cat in Autumn’t hands. She was randomly picked at Preschool to take home Pete the Cat this weekend (each weekend someone gets to bring him home).
After presents everyone stayed for little bit before heading home.
Overall it was a great Hello Kitty Birthday party!
