I hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend! We were able to spend some time outside which is always great. It was able to meet up with a friend whom I hadn’t seen since Halloween at a park. While we have had a few Zoom chats with each other, it was so nice to meet up face to face. I’ve really been missing seeing my friends lately. Sure, Zoom is great, but nothing beats face to face. At any rate today I wanted to share a super simple, individual healthy monkey bread (ok it’s really more of a of healthy-ish monkey bread) with y’all.
Recently I remembered how awesome those “two ingredient bagels” were. I made myself some bagels to eat with eggs in the morning, which got me to thinking how else could I use this dough?? This dough is so easy to work with and that I don’t have to worry about proofing and rising. This “healthy-ish” monkey bread was born since I was craving something sweet, and while it still has sugar and butter in it, I tried to reduce the quantity a little, to make it a bit more healthy.
Healthy-ish Monkey Bread
Ingredients
Dough
- 1 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 cup flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
Toppings
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1-2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon leftover cinnamon sugar mix
Instructions
- Start by making the dough. Combing the Greek yogurt, flour, and baking powder until a dough forms.
- Roll the dough into balls, I made about 15-20 from one recipe.
- Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a large ziplock bag. Add the dough balls and shake to coat.
- Place them into a dish, or create individual dishes by putting them into ramekins.
- Melt butter, then mix in honey and cinnamon/sugar. Pour over dough in the dish.
- Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.
This individual healthy monkey bread was really simple to make, and my girls all loved how it turned out (always a good thing).

- Melt butter, mix in honey and cinnamon/sugar
- Pour butter mixture over dough balls and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
I decided to make the monkey bread individual, because isn’t there just something fun about “mini” dishes?? Plus Annabelle and Autumn loved that they each got their own dish. I really do love how easy it was to make this recipe. Plus my girls loved helping roll the dough into balls. Anytime they get to help in the kitchen they are super excite (well except for cleaning… they aren’t to thrilled about that).Roll
I want to make this individual healthy monkey bread again, but use some homemade fruit compote with it as well (and possibly reducing the butter a little), How tasty would this taste with bursts of strawberry and blueberry?! Yum, yum!
