Hello everyone! Sorry it has been a bit since I last blogged. I am excited to say that I have been working on a guest post for The Official Blog Guide! I will be doing a series of guest posts on how to take better pictures as a non-professional photographer. Head on over and check it out!
A few Saturday’s ago one of Matt’s relatives got married at The Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn.
If you are ever visiting the Metro Detroit area and are looking for something to do, I suggest visiting it (as well as Greenfield Village which is in the same complex). You have to pay separate fees for each, but they are both very cool. As a child I loved Greenfield Village, but wasn’t so much into The Henry Ford. Now that I am older, I appreciate the history much more.
What was so cool about having the wedding at The Henry Ford, was that the reception was in the middle of the muesum, complete with a plane over the dance floor!
During the reception we were allowed to visit parts of the museum, which Matt and I did. There were even docents around to explain the different exhibits.
A few years ago The Henry Ford acquired the Rosa Parks bus (you know, the one in which she refused to get up and move to the back of, which in turn started the Montgomery Bus Boycott). I had always wanted to get to the museum to see it, but was never able to find the time. Matt and I were able to see the bus and got to go inside and sit down in it.
The bus was in a small space, so it was hard to get a decent picture of it.
We were also able to see the seat in which Lincoln was assassinated in, and the car in which Kennedy was assassinated in.
They also had a cot which George Washington slept on during the war. I had no idea how many historical artifacts the Henry Ford had!
They have lots of fun historical artifacts as well. For example, this McDonald’s sign from the second McDonald’s franchise in Michigan. It is huge!
They also have a Wienermobile!
All in all, a very fun filled evening!
P.S. I haven’t looked at my “quiet book” in quite some time. I am planning on working more on it soon!
