I was going to post about how to use a t-shirt to make a skirt, but it just didn’t feel right to do today. It is hard to believe that 9-11 occurred 12 years ago.
I remember where I was when I heard the news, as I am sure everyone who is old enough to does. I was in my senior year of high school. The attack occurred on a Tuesday and happened at the end of first hour. We had a lock down drill so the principle could decide whether or not to share with the school what was happening. As I walked to my next class (public speaking/debate) I heard whispers of an attack on the World Trade Center. Once we got into class, the principal came on the announcements to tell us a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. The teacher turned on the TV and we watched in horror as the second plane crashed into the Towers, then watched as they collapsed. The whole day was spent watching the news wondering why someone would do this, and feeling so sad for all those families who lost loved ones because of this tragic attack. No one should have to feel such a loss, and I pray that God will continue to help and show His love to these people.
So today, I say it’s time to set aside our differences. Let’s not focus on race, gender, sexual preferences, religion, political views, or anything else that divides us. Today, let’s stand together, united as Americans, and remember those whose lives were lost.
