I hope that everyone had a fabulous weekend! I had tried so hard to get a post up on Friday, but it just didn’t happen. I had to remind myself, that it’s ok if I didn’t post, and that I’m blogging for the fun of it. I didn’t have time, and it is nothing to beat myself up over. So today I’ll be sharing a little bit of last week, and our weekend.
Thursday
On Thursday the girls and I skipped dance to attend a World Thinking Day event put on by our Girl Scout council. We got to learn about a variety of other countries (what language the speak, if they have Girl Scouts or Girl Guides), meet girls from other troops in our school district, and try some food. It was a lot of fun! Annabelle was a bit disappointed our troop didn’t have costumes, but now we know better for next year. Unfortunately we had to cut it a little short due to freezing rain and sleet. By the time we left my car had a thin layer of ice on it. Thankfully the roads weren’t too bad.
The girls flushed ice cubes down the toilet, slept with spoons under their pillows, and wore their pajamas backwards in hopes of a snow day, since the weather was supposed to be bad all night.
Friday
The girls hard work paid off, and we had an ice day on Friday. A fun way to start mid winter break. While there was only a dusting of snow outside was quite slippery. You could see the then layer of ice on all the branches. It was hard to get a good picture, but everything was covered.
We played outside a little, and then enjoyed playing the game Farkle.
The sun made the trees look very pretty all incased in ice.
I also had the girls help me with making dinner that night. We made Jimmy Dean Sausage bake, and the girls broke the eggs into the bowl, and helped to cut the bread (I helped Aubrie with this part). They were a bit salty about helping at first, but when they realized they got to break eggs, it wasn’t as bad.
Saturday
Saturday morning the girls headed out to a cookie booth bright and early at Kroger. I wasn’t working it, so I dropped them off, and did a little last minute shopping of things I couldn’t get at Aldi.
After the cookie booth we headed to a local food bank for another Girl Scout event. We dropped off food that had been collected at a prior meeting, and learned a little more about the food bank so that Autumn could earn her Friendly and Helpful petal.
**Shameless plug here: After visiting the food bank the girls decided they wanted to try to donate 15 boxes a piece (because “everyone deserves a little treat sometimes”. For every 5 boxes donated, we will also donate a box. If you feel so inclined, here are their online pages. You can just choose girl delivered, and we will do the rest.**

After that it was home to make a few signs before heading to our second cookie booth of the weekend. I was helping with this one, so Aubrie stayed home with Matt. The girls love dancing by the road trying to get people to come buy cookies.
The rest of Saturday was spent playing video games, catching up on laundry, and making some delicious mustard chicken. This is really such a good recipe! I don’t even like mustard, and try to make this every few months. The kids all like it too, even Aubrie (!) it’s a win in my book.
We then started watching Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man’s Chest. All but Pearl was on the couch.
Sunday
On Sunday we headed to church (without a hangover this time, lol) with my parents. Then we came home to hang out before the older two worked two shifts at cookie booth #3 of the weekend (booth #4 overall).
I made a super tasty dinner from a rolled rump roast we got when we bought a cow. I served it with yorkshire pudding and creamed spinach.
After we finished up Pirates and the girls went to bed. Since next week is mid winter break the girls get to stay up a bit later.
I hope everyone has a fantastic week!
