OK. So hear me out. I know this sounds kind of crazy, a cleaning checklist for kids, but it had to be done. Over break I helped the girls clean out their bedroom, and it was crazy. Mainly Annabelle’s room, but still. There was stuff all over the place. Random toys shoved under the bed and thrown in her closet. Lone socks under the dresser. And paper. So much paper. I about lost my mind, and this checklist was born.
Why a cleaning checklist for kids??
If you are anything like me, then perhaps part of your New Year goals is to keep things clean (which is a constant battle). If I am being honest I used to not be too concerned over how unorganized my house was. But in the past year or so, I’ve realized it really bothers me. Like causes anxiety, and makes my short fuse even shorter, and I told my girls this. I asked them if we could work together to keep things organized, and they said yes.
So, I decided it was time for a cleaning checklist for the kids (I will be sharing my new master cleaning checklist next wee), although this is really more so a “how to keep your room from becoming a disaster so mom doesn’t lose her damn mind” checklist. Some of the items on the checklist, like changing the sheets and vacuuming, are things that we already do. The daily part of the check list is new.
The thought process is that the daily part of the checklist has to be done before the girls can watch TV at the end of the day. Cleaning up their toys in the family room has always been a thing, but a daily room pick up as not. My hope is that if things get done on the daily it won’t become so overwhelmingly messy. I’ll have to check back in next month to let you know how this works.
