This weekend was beautiful here in the mitten state. We spent most of it outside, and it reminded me of the weekends of my youth (well besides the fact we weren’t playing with neighbors because of practicing social distancing). But each day was spent in the sunshine from about 10am-dinner time. The sunshine was good for my soul, and surpisingly enough the girls didn’t ask much about when they could go inside.
FRIDAY
After doing a little learning on Friday we headed outside to play. Nothing to crazy happened on Friday, but Annabelle was very proud for climbing the rope on our playscape.
I also had to go to the grocery store to pick up food for Snickers. While there I saw that beef brisket was on sale so I picked up two to smoke.
SATURDAY
On Saturday Matt got up early to get the smoker ready for the beef brisket. He also made eggs on toast for us on the grill, and the girls were so excited. I was too since I didn’t have to make breakfast!
After breakfast was eaten, Matt and I got to work on building our last raised garden bed. I am loving how they turned out and can’t wait to get our veggies planted.
As much as we wanted to eat brisket for dinner it was no where near ready so we ordered a pizza to eat. It’s a good thing we did because the brisket wasn’t ready until 10:30pm!
Matt and I tried a piece then (sooo good!) but then saved some for dinner on Sunday, then vacuum sealed the rest. I’d say we got about 8 more dinners worth.
SUNDAY
After playing outside all day Saturday one would think my girls would sleep in. That was not the case. Annabelle came in at 7:00am on the dot to tell me it was time to get up. Matt told me that he heard them up at 6:00am!
After hanging out inside for a bit, I took the girls out on a bike ride.
When we got back we headed into the back where we played for a majority of the day. I’ve said it before, but I will say it again. I am so thankful Matt and his dad built the playscape in the backyard.
Annabelle also tried her hand at riding a bike without training wheels. She was pretty nervous, so hopefully we can keep practicing and she can gain confidence.
Aubrie is also having a blast playing outside. She has taken to picking dandelions and trying to put them in her hair since this is what her sisters do. So cute!
I hope that everyone had a great weekend! Now it’s time to rock this week!
