Today I’m going to share how I did the My name is page. It was pretty easy to do, just took a bit of time.
Step One:
Embroider the letters and the words “My name is” onto white fabric. If you don’t have an embroidery unit, you can probably buy cloth letters, or use puffy paint or fabric paint.
After you have them embroidered cut squares around the letters, so that each letter/word is separate.
Step Two:
Cut out small pieces of velcroe that are about the size of the letter you cut out. Attach the pieces velcroe to a piece of felt.
Sorry about the lack of pictures in the next few steps. I was getting so excited about finishing the book, I slacked big time.
Step Three:
Now you should have letters cut out, and velcroe still all on one piece of felt.
Take the felt with velcroe on it and zig zag stitch a letter onto the opposite side of the felt. When you are done you will have a letter with a piece of velcroe on the back.
Step Four:
Now time to attach everything to the quite book page!
Attach the words My name is by using a zig-zag stitch.
Then attach two rows of velcroe (opposite of the velcroe on the letters you made). The number of velcroe squares will depend on how long your child’s name is. Since Annabelle is 9 letters long I made two rows of nine squares.
Step Five:
Put the letters on the bottom row in a jumbled up order and let your little one put them in the correct order on the top row.
And there you have it!
P.S. I know that Annabelle is a bit young for this, but one day I hope she will enjoy it. 🙂
Speaking of Annabelle, she loves putting her hood up when wearing a shirt with a hood. If I have a hooded shirt, my hood must be up as well. She is such a silly thing.
