Today I’m joining up with Holly for her Monthly Musings link up. This month’s questions are looking ahead to Valentine’s Day and are all things love!
How do you show love? What is your love language?
I show love by doing things for others, or making things for other. Maybe it’s cleaning up a mess I didn’t make, or cooking a favorite dinner. Sometimes is sewing a dress, or knitting a hat. I love seeing how people react to these things. Also, my love language is acts of service, with some quality time mixed in.
Do you have any fun Valentine’s traditions?
I usually try to make the girls some sort of Valentine outfit. It was much easier to do this when I only had to make one. Here are a few of the things I have made. The dress on the right is from when Annabelle was young, and now Aubrie can wear it too.
I made these shirts last year.
Last year I also made a Valentine charcuterie board, and I’m getting things ready to do one this year as well. So I guess that is kind of a tradition now too. 😉
Favorite Valentine’s Memory
My favorite memory is that Matt and I had our first date on Valentine’s Day way back in 2004 (gosh we were so young… my hair had no gray…) We went out to eat, then went to see the movie Win a Date with Tad Hamilton. It was the first time I’d been on a date for Valentine’s Day. Then, the next week we became “official” (we had known each other for a while already).
These are pictures from our second Valentine’s Day in 2005. He gave me lilies on our first date, and then gave them to me again on our one year anniversary. It’s one of the reasons I had lilies in my wedding bouquet.
Favorite Valentine’s Day Treat
Give me all the chocolate please.
Do you wear Valentine’s Day fashion
Valentine’s Day, love, like, or hard pass
Meh. It’s ok, but it’s not my favorite. I decorate for it, but don’t go all out like I do for other holidays. I try to make it fun for my girls, and sometimes Matt and I will do something special, but nothing too big.
What do you think is the most romantic song
Obviously “Let’s Get it On” by Marvin Gaye….
Hahaha, kidding. This is a good question, and I don’t know if I know the answer to it!
Dine in, take out, or cook
Well, restaurants should finally be open for in person dining here in MI (after a “pause” that started in November before Thanksgiving), but I’m sure it’s going to be crazy. So we will stay in. In the past I’ve picked up some lobster tail, and steaks and we make our own surf and turf.
Pink or red
I have no preference.
Flowers or chocolates
Give me the chocolate please. 😉
What are you thoughts on Valentine’s Day. Love it? Hate it? Or somewhere in between.
