I hope that everyone had a great weekend. We had a long weekend since the girls had Monday off. And a busy weekend we had.
I will admit it started off a bit rough. The girls were supposed to have a sleepover with Grammy and Papa (my parents) on Friday, however a snowstorm was in the forecast for Friday night into Saturday, which meant picking them up would not have been great. When I told them the news they were less than happy. It doesn’t help that they were supposed to have a sleepover last weekend that was also cancelled because an ice storm was in the forecast. We were also going to have a small birthday party for Aubrie which we also cancelled, which bummed me out big time since I had made some sugar cookies for the party.
But the girls awoke to lots of snow on Saturday and couldn’t wait to get out in it.
After playing for quite some time we headed inside where we drank hot cocoa, complete with homemade marshmallows (I hope to get that recipe on the blog this week.
On Sunday the roads had been cleared so we headed to church, after which I dropped the older girls off at my parents for a sleepover. I honestly don’t know who was more excited my girls or Matt and I. We didn’t do a whole lot on Sunday (since Aubrie was still with us), but after she went to bed we made some steaks and artichokes and watched the football game.
On Monday Matt was back to work, but I hosted a play date with some friends. I’ve known these ladies since Annabelle was a year and half, and it has been so much fun to watch all of our kids grow up together.
I made a simple charcuterie board (you know, since I had all the stuff from when we were going to have a birthday party for Aubrie).
I also thought it would be fun to do a hot chocolate bar. The kids loved it, and I can’t wait for an excuse to have another one.
So, what started as a disapointing weekend, ended up pretty great.
