Back when I threw my mom her surprise 70th birthday party I made this easy red wine apple cider sangria. The apple orchard had just opened the day prior, and I was so thankful I was able to pick up a bottle of cider (along with some donuts) so I could make this drink. It was a hit at the party and gone way too fast!
The thing I love about sangria is how easy it is to make! And how it’s pretty hard to screw up. I’ve made it with all different types of wine, and all different types of fruit. I even made a hot mulled apple cider sangria which is quite tasty.
But, back to this easy red wine apple cider sangria.
Making this sangria is simple. Take a bottle of your favorite Merlot (we went with the Winking Owl brand from Aldi, since we’re fancy 😉 ) and place it in a pitcher. Add 1 1/4 cups apple cider (I say the legit stuff from the cider mill is the best), 1/2 cup OJ, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 rum. Stir that all together then add an orange and an apple sliced up.
Now comes the hardest part ever. Put it in the fridge overnight. You’ve gotta let the flavors meld together. When you are ready to serve I suggest running a lime around the edge of glass and dipping it in a cinnamon/ sugar mix.
