With St. Patrick’s Day coming up I knew I wanted to crochet Annabelle a pair of rainbow leg warmers. These are easy to make, and turn out so cute!
Materials:
Crochet hook (H/ 5mm)
Yarn (red, orange, yellow, green, blue purple)
yarn needle
Terms
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
bpdc: back post dc
Directions:
Ch 11
Row 1
In fourth chain from hook, dc. Dc in each stitch across (8 dc). Ch 3 and turn.
Row 2-15
Bpdc in each stitch across, ch 3 and turn. Each row will have 8dc
**note, this forms the upper leg cuff. You can add or take away rows to make it as big as you would like it.**
Row 16
work a row of sc across what will become the bottom of your cuff.
Switch to orange, ch 3 and turn
** I forgot about showing this with orange, but this is how you can switch between colors when crocheting.
Row 17-20
*2 dc into first stitch, ch 1, skip next stitch* repeat from * until you get to the end of the row. Ch 3 and turn. You will end up with 24 dc, in 12 groups of 2.
At the end of row 20, switch to yellow and ch 3 with yellow
Row 21-24
*2 dc into first stitch, ch 1, skip next stitch* repeat from * until you get to the end of the row. Ch 3 and turn. You will end up with 24 dc, in 12 groups of 2.
At the end of row 24, switch to green and ch 3 with green
Row 25-28
*2 dc into first stitch, ch 1, skip next stitch* repeat from * until you get to the end of the row. Ch 3 and turn. You will end up with 24 dc, in 12 groups of 2.
At the end of row 28, switch to blue and ch 3 with blue
Row 29-32
*2 dc into first stitch, ch 1, skip next stitch* repeat from * until you get to the end of the row. Ch 3 and turn. You will end up with 24 dc, in 12 groups of 2.
At the end of row 32, switch to purple and ch 3 with purple
Row 33-36
*2 dc into first stitch, ch 1, skip next stitch* repeat from * until you get to the end of the row. Ch 3 and turn. You will end up with 24 dc, in 12 groups of 2.
At the end of row 36 switch to red, and ch 3
Row 37
Work a row of 26 sc going up, then ch 3
Row 38
Work a row of scallops in the row of sc you just made. 4dc into first stitch, slip stitch into next stitch, then 4 dc into the next stitch.
Last up is sewing them to form the leg warmers. You are going to want to fold them so that the edges match with scalop on the inside. I hope that the picture gives a a good idea of what I mean.
