Feeling like you aren’t good enough.
Feeling like you are failing at everything.
I’m sure we’ve all been there.
Maybe you lost your temper after you child told you for the umpteenth time that they were hungry (as you were making them lunch).
Ugh. Â I am not a good enough mom.
You look around your house and think to yourself, how did I let it get so messy?  I swear I just cleaned.
I am not a good enough wife.
The blog hasn’t been updated in a over a week.
Why do I even bother? Â I’m not a good enough blogger.
The list goes on and on. Â Friends, I wanted you to know, if you have these thoughts you aren’t alone. Once they start, I find myself in a downward spiral of negativity. Â Everything seems to go wrong, and it can be hard to shake.
So what’s a mom to do? Â How do you stop the negativity?
Prayer
The first thing I try to do is say prayer. Prayer can be a powerful thing. Â It helps lift you up when you’re down. Â Helps you realize these thoughts aren’t from God. Â Sometimes I pray for God to help me, but most times I try praying for someone else. Â A friend going through something tough. Â Someone needed some extra blessings in their lives.
I’d like to start using a prayer journal, or finding Bible verses to focus on. Â Do you have any favorite verses to help you through tough times?
Focus on the positiveÂ
Now, once you start in a downward spiral, this can be hard. Â When it seems like nothing is going right, how can you find the positive? Â I start by making a list. Â A real, hand written list (usually in lots of different colors). Â Once you start looking for the positive, it becomes easier, and easier to find.
Change what you can
So a lot of times, when I get in this “I’m not good enough” mindset I tend to be overwhelmed.  It’s when I haven’t had time, and everything just piles up.  To help, I like to make a “Five Minute To-Do List”.  Simple things I can do quickly, like empty the dishwasher or put the kids clothes away.  A fast comment on a few blogs.  Doing  these quick five minute tasks here and there adds up, and helps lift some of the “I suck” feelings.
Unplug
As a blogger who is really trying to grow her blog, this one can be hard to do. Â I want to be out there to encourage people to visit my blog. Â But… by being on social media, I also see what everyone else is doing. Â Then I start comparing, and jealousy rears its ugly head. Â By unplugging for a bit I can take a step back, and focus on the positive in my life (see point number two).
