I pin my own content using campaigns and looping
Lets’ start with campaigns! I use these to post my own content to the group boards I am a part of. If you do this, be sure to read up on the rules of the group. Many groups have limits of how many pins you can post per day, and ask that if you leave a pin you re-pin someone else’s content, b/c #manners #letssupporteachother. You also want to make sure that you have other content pinned between the time your pins are posted so that your board doesn’t look spammy. The rule I’ve heard is 20/80. Your feed should be 20% your pins, and 80% other people’s content.
So to create a campaign you are going to want to select pinning tools, then campaigns. Select the new campaign button which will bring you to this. Choose scheduled campaign.
Now it’s time to name your campaign and add the boards you want your pin pinned to. I always choose scheduled because I determine the day and timing of the repins.
So in the Campaign Name field, fill in the name you want to give your campaign. For the sake of this example I went with Campaign-Motherhood. You will also determine how many new pins per day. I stuck with one, since BoardBooster suggests that one is the best. That way if you pin two pins at the same time, one will start the re-pin schedule that day, the next pin will start the schedule the next day.
Now it’s time to add the group boards you want your pins to be repined to. In order to do that you need to click the “add repin” button. That will bring you to a screen that looks like this. To add a board, click where it says “click here to choose”.
After you click, you will get a screen that lists all of the boards you have.
Go ahead and choose one to add to the campaign. And remember if your campaign is food related, you wouldn’t want to add a fashion board, since that has nothing to do with food. For this example I added the board “>>The Mommy Board<<“. I then chose the day of the campaign I wanted the pin to occur and the time I want it repined.
Keeping adding your group boards until you have as many as you would like. However, when you add each group board, be sure to change the campaign day number otherwise you’ll end up with all your pins posting at the same time… which is no good. #beentheredonethat
When you are all done you’ll be able to see your repin schedule, and make changes if needed. You can see that on Day 1 I have scheduled a repin in the morning and a repin in the afternoon. If you do this you want to make sure there is enough other content between the times so that your pins aren’t showing up right next to each other. Try it out for a few days to see if you need to make any more adjustments. I have four campaigns that feed my group boards; DIY, Family/Motherhood, Recipes, and Blogging. Each campagin feeds about 11 boards (and some of the campaigns have the same group boards), so I don’t add to each campaign everyday. That would mean my content would be on my feed way more than the 20/80 ratio I talked about earlier. I tend to add to my campaigns 2-3 times a week.
The final way I have started pinning my own content is through looping. It’s pretty easy to set up, so I didn’t take any pictures. I simply added my blog’s Pinterst Board (where I pin all of my own content), and set it up to repin one of my older pins once a day.
So there you have it. This post ended up being waaaaayyy longer than I thought it would, so if you made it this far, then thank you! If you have any other questions, please ask away, and I will try my best to help answer them!
