First and foremost let me say, I am not a professional photographer. I didn’t go to school for photography. The only classes I have taken were through our city. Most of what I have learned was done through reading magazines, blogs, and just lots of practice with my camera.
So what camera do I have?
The Canon Rebel T2i,
I got it in 2011, and pretty much started taking pictures in manual mode. I figured if I am going to have a nice camera, well then, I might as well learn how to use it.
I really like the rebel. Â I think it is a great DSLR camera for beginners. Â It’s easy to use, and takes great pictures. Â The newest Rebel is the T6. Check it out here You can also check out the T5 here.
The first time I really started using my camera was on a trip to Chicago for a friends wedding. The pictures
turned out ok, but nothing to write home about.
Here are two of the better ones.
The rest were either to dark or blurry, like this one.
Here are some other examples of early photos. Â I was using the lens that came with my camera and didn’t really know what I was doing, or how the settings worked together.
So why am I sharing this? To tell you how I went from those pictures to ones like these:
In the next few weeks I’ll be sharing how three of the main settings in manual mode (aperture, shutter speed and ISO) work together to create your picture. Hopefully this will help those of you who are apprehensive of shooting in manual,  I can’t wait to get started!
