If you have been blogging for any amount of time, then you know probably know that Pinterest is your friend. It is by far the number one way I get traffic to my blog. At the end of the 2017 I invested in Megan of Love Family Health’s Pinterest Ninja Course. It taught me a lot and I am so glad that I invested in it. I would recommend this course to anyone, and if you purchase it in February you also get a mini coaching session included (usually a $50 fee).
In her course Megan talked about Tailwind (another scheduling tool) but before taking this course I had already invested in BoardBooster. Because I was already using BoardBooster, I decided play more with it, and I am glad I did! For those of you unfamiliar, it is a scheduling tool to allow you to better manage your Pinterest. There are four tools available to you; scheduler, looping, campaign, and tribes. I use the scheduler, looping, and campaign, but do not use the tribes.
First off, I pin other people’s content using the scheduler tool
I had already been using the scheduler to pin other people’s content (which is very important to do) onto my boards, but it wasn’t organized well. After looking through my Pinterest analytics to see what people were pinning, I decided I didn’t nee every single one of my boards (I have 38 boards) to have its own secret board, so I reduced that number to 18 boards. I made sure to include boards about cooking, projects, and motherhood, since those are what my followers are interested in (according to Pinterest Analytics). I knew that I wanted to have someone else content be pinned at least once an hour so I started playing more with customizing the time on each one of my boards, so it could be similar to how you schedule pins with Tailwind.
Use BoardBooster like a boss to increase your traffic! #blogging #howto Share on XOff I made a quick 24 hour table, and then wrote down which boards I wanted pins to be published from. You’ll notice that some boards are written twice, and that some times I have two pins being scheduled.
Since I knew the times, I logged into BoardBooster and started customizing each of my secret boards by clicking the gear next to “Publishing”.
Next you need to change the settings so there is one pin being published, and that it is published within an hour (or really a 59 minute) time frame. While I can’t schedule the exact time like Tailwind, I at least know the small time frame it is getting published during. Although, now that I am thinking more about it, you could make that time frame super small (like a two minute time frame), but I like keeping it at an hour, so that the publishing time is a bit more random.
If you want to pin from your secret board at two separate times, simply hit advanced, then two pinning window. This will give you the option of morning and evening repins. It does take a little bit of time to change each tab (weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays), but when it’s done, you should be able to load up your secret boards, so you know that you are pinning something at least once an hour each week. My scheduler is actually configured to publish 33 pins a day, since I wanted a few more pins each day.
I’d also like to note that I still repin in “real time” throughout the day, usually around 20-30 pins. Since those pins are usually all done at once I knew I wanted to schedule more so that they are spread throughout the day. After everything is set I usually check once a day to make sure I have enough pins on my secret board to last a few days.
In terms of plans, when I first started using BoardBooster I started with the 500 pins/ month plan which worked really well. I recently upgrade to the 1000 pins/ month plan (I got an alert from BoardBooster saying that I was using twice my pin limit… opps) since I also use the campaign and loop tool to pin my own content.
