Blog Post Planning Sheet

One of my goals for August (which I never shared, since I didn’t actually write them down till half way through the month) was to create a blog post planning sheet.  So sorry to all my non-blogging readers, but you may find this post boring.  Or maybe it’ll inspire you to start your own blog! 😉  If this isn’t your cup of tea, you could check out this yummy white chicken chili or this post of 101 things to do in the fall.

Onto the planning sheet!  I often find, after publishing a post, I’ve forgotten to do little things.  You know like add SEO keywords, or set a featured image. After looking at Pinterest (for far too long) I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted. I liked bits and pieces of other sheets I saw, but nothing that would work. So I decided to create my own.

Looking for a better way to plan out your posts. I have a free instant download blog post planning sheet for you. Plus a sponsored post planning sheet as well. #blog #blogplanner #blogplannertemplate

This sheet is divided into sections, these sections include:

Title/Keywords/Date – this one is obvious

Main Points- what are the main points you want your readers to get?  I may also include the category here.  I was also debating color codding the categories, and shading in the title box based on the category.

To Do- what do you need to do.  I didn’t include check boxes for this one, since some posts need more than others

Check List- this includes things like things to help your SEO, making sure I remember to add a click to tweet button (which I almost forgot with this post, until I looked at my planning sheet) and so on.

Links to existing posts- I’m trying to get better at this, so that I can reduce my bounce rate a bit.

Social Shares-  I only included the four social media sites that I use.  I always tend to share my posts one and then forget, so with this planning sheet I hope to remember to post them more than once.  I didn’t include Pinterest on this, since I pin to many different boards.  I have a separate sheet for keeping track of that.

Honestly there isn’t a lot to discuss about the sheet. You can take a look at it and deiced whether or not you like it. I debated adding a colorful background, but I know I usually just print in black and white, so kept it simple. If you like it, you can get your own copy here.

I also made one for a sponsored post. The only thing I changed was at the bottom, and instead of links to existing posts, I put in an area to put in hashtags and sponsored links. You can get that one here.

If you liked what you see, I would love for you to sign up to be on my e-mail list.  I haven’t sent anything for a while, but am still trying to work on building my list.  You can can sign up by clicking the button on the right sidebar.  I hope to add more planning sheets to my media library, which you get access to.
