So I totally meant to get this posted earlier than the day before Valentine’s Day, but, that didn’t happen… better late than never though, right?
It took me a little bit, but I created a pretty yummy red velvet cookie recipe.

Red Velvet Cookies

Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup powder sugar
- 1/4 cup powder buttermilk
- 1 cup butter
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
- 1-2 tablespoons red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
Instructions
1. Cream butter and sugar together. 2. Add egg, vanilla, milk and red food coloring to butter mixture.3. Combine flour, baking powder, powdered buttermilk, and cocoa together.4. Add dry mixture to wet, then add vinegar. Stir. If to dry add a little more milk.5. Roll dough to 1/2-3/4 inch thick and bake for 7-10 minutes at 350 degrees.6. Let cool, then decorate using either royal icing, or cream cheese frosting.

While most red velvet deserts are decorated with cream cheese frosting, I decided to go with royal icing.
I also decorated a bunch of sugar cookies.
On Friday we had some of the my moms club over to decorate sugar cookies. It was tons of fun. I think I’ll be cleaning up sprinkles for the next year! 😉
