Updates, Updates!

Wow… It has been a while since I’ve gotten to sit down and write a post.  Between Annabelle suddenly taking much shorter naps, and fighting them and me getting a “death cold” it’s been a bit crazy around here.  I am finally starting to feel better, and hope that Annabelle stays healthy.

Funny story.  I had been trying to teach Annabelle how to clap her hands, but she hadn’t been to interested.  One day we were Face Timing with my best friend and her daughter (who is only about 1 1/2 months older than Annabelle).  My friend was showing me how whenever you say “yay!” her daughter claps.  Well Annabelle saw that, and then started clapping.  It was like Mama showing her how to clap wasn’t good enough.  Another baby needed to show her.

So, Valentine’s Day was Annabelle’s last “my first” holiday.  Is it
weird that it made me a little bit sad?  I just can’t believe she is
almost a year old.  I know everyone says time flies, and I knew that it
would, but I’m still in awe.  She is growing and learning so much (which
is perhaps why her naps have taken a bit of turn for the worse).  I
can’t wait to see what the next year brings.

I totally meant to post these pictures before Valentine’s Day, but since life got in the way they are a bit late.  I have been struggling with decorating my mantel.  I was looking up ideas online and there was all this talk about making a “triangle”.  There should be a base in the middle then items of varying heights/some movement (i.e. a candle) on either side of the base piece making a visual triangle.  My problem is that my mantel is way to long for that.  It spans the entire wall (15-20 feet perhaps, I’m to lazy to measure it right now).  So I tried to use the triangle concept by create three separate visual areas.  The middle then one on either side.

For the areas on either side of the main triangle I tried to have one “focal point” then some items of different heights.  The top picture is what I had to the right  of the main triangle.  The focal point is “Love”, and the mason jars/roses offer some varying heights.  The bottom picture is to the left.  The focal point is are the hearts (which Annabelle painted) and the varying heights are the Be My Valentine blocks.
See below for the “triangle”.

Well, that was a long post!  Finished just in time, Annabelle stirs!  Soon to come some smash cake photos! 🙂  Have a great day!
