I hope that everyone had a fantastic weekend! Sorry I’ve been a bit silent the past week, but we packed the kids up and headed Up North for a vacation and to spend some times with my in-laws.
For those of you non-Michiganders who are unfamiliar with the term “Up North”- It means we headed to the Northern part of MI (not the Upper Peninsula in our case) to spend time in a cottage.
Matt’s grandparents own a place on lake and we go up every summer. It’s great to get away for a bit, and have extra help with the little. 😉
On Saturday we headed to The National Shrine of Cross in the Woods. I totally didn’t have time to snap a picture before Mass (and I just didn’t feel right taking one during). It is an outdoor Mass, and the largest Crucifix in the world. If you are ever in northern MI, check it out.
Sunday we just hung out at the cottage. Matt’s mom and grandma, also gave Annabelle this toy.
It is a “Crazy Cat Lady” action figure. Annabelle was over the moon about it, and I just about died laughing.
Monday, Matt and I headed into town for a day date. After a lunch at Alpine Tavern we headed over to a place called “Old Spud Warehouse” which sells vintage and unique home accessories.
Matt did not understand why I thought the towel was so funny…. but I’m sure many of my moms understand.
I also picked up this…
I **may** have finished it in less than 24 hours…
On Tuesday we headed to the beach! This area is so cool, there is a river that flows right into Lake Michigan. The river is really calm, so we just splash around and soak up the sun.
In the background you can see Sleep Bear Dunes (which we hiked a few years ago).
The rest of vacation was spent chilling at the cottage, going for walks and boat rides.
I also snapped a few pictures of Autumn in her Socklings (be sure to check back later this week for my review).
We tried to get some family photos, but it really didn’t work out as well as I hoped. I’m a bit disappointed, but may try to do some more at home.
Some of the attempts to get me and the girls.
I was able to get one of myself and the girls that’s not half bad.
It was a great trip, but its always nice to be home. 🙂
