Not going to lie, I wasn’t on my game during my first learning at home theme. Between trying to getting the house ready for a new baby, and getting all the doctor’s appointments in, I didn’t have a lot of time.
This theme (Fall #1, aka Apples/leaves) however, I took sometime to actually prep everything I needed to.
Here are the activities I hope to do these two weeks:
So far Annabelle has loved the sensory box. It is filled with oatmeal, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon sticks. I also added some foam leaf stickers I got at JoAnn. I’d like to add some fake apples as well.
She has measure cups that we use with the sensory box as well. I’d love for her to sort the leafs into the right colors, but she has more fun taking handfuls of oatmeal and putting that in them.
We also did a rip art activity. For those of you unfamiliar with what this is, it’s super easy! You simply give your child some construction paper and have them rip it into small pieces. Then glue those pieces onto some sort of shape.
Annabelle’s pieces were a bit larger than what I would have liked, but it worked. She did need some extra help getting the glue in the correct space, but over all it turned out good.
Lastly we did a “leaf sort”. I just made a quick mat with trees on it, then used some of the leaves from the sensory box to create a matching game. Really easy. Annabelle really didn’t get into this as much. I hope to eventually count the leaves after she has sorted them and talk a little bit about more and less.
We have also been reading some fall books, but I need to get the library to pick up some new ones. We’ve just been super busy, I’m hoping tomorrow we can.
Remember if you want to do these at home follow on pintrest here. This is a different account that is just for my “home school” that I am doing with Annabelle.
