Christmas is this week… this week! Holy cow, I can’t believe how fast this holiday season went. This week is going to be so fun, but crazy busy.
Over the weekend Matt went to a bachelor party, so I got my craft on.
I’ve been working a lot on Annabelle’s quiet book. I don’t think I will be done with it by Christmas, but I am making lots of progress!

LADYBUG PAGE
Check this post out for the first part of the ladybug page.
For the second part of the ladybug page I needed a place to put the ladybugs when they aren’t on the leaf. So on the page that would be opposite of the leaf, I made ten marks to put Velcro.
On each mark I sewed a small piece of Velcro. Be sure to use the opposite of whatever is on the lady bugs.
So when the book is sewn together, this is what it will look like. I also am going to add the number words under the lady bugs. I have them emroidered but haven’t sewn them on yet.
Here is how the words look as they are being embroidered.
OWL PAGE
So, I totally thought I had pictures of how I made the owls, but apparently I don’t. So I will attempt to explain.
For the mama owl I cut out a body, eyes (white circle and a smaller black circle), beak and wings. I also used brightly colored fabric to cute out the stomach. I cut three sections (the top being the smallest and bottom being the largest), two pieces of each section.
Sew the black circles onto the white ones, then sew those onto the body of the bird, sew the beak under that.
For each section of the bird, sew the two pieces together leaving an opening to stuff them a little bit. After they are all sewn and stuffed sew them onto the owl.
After you have the eyes, beak and stomach sewn on use a zig-zag stictch to sew the owl to your page. Leave an opening so you can add some stuffing, then finish sewing it. Then attach the feet. Finally attach the wings just at the top, so you can lift them up.
So here is how the mama owl will look.
To make the baby bird I basically made a smaller version of the mom. I cut out a front and back for the baby owl as well. I only used one piece for the stomach, and attached the feet and wings directly to the owl. I also put a piece of Velcro on the back of the owl (hopefully the finished product will make these directions make sense). I then sewed the front and back together using a zig zag stitch and stuffed the owl.
Under each of the wings attach a piece of Velcro (opposite of what you put on the baby bird) so that you can attach him (or her) under the wing of the mom.
SHAPE PAGE
For the shape page I started by cutting out six shapes and sewing velcro on them. I then sewed those shapes onto the page using a zig zag stitch.
Next I cut out the same shapes but in different colors. I cut two of each of these shapes (one for the front one for the back). On the back I sewed on a piece of Velcoro (opposite of what is on the page). I then zig-zaged stitched the pieces together. Now you have a shape match page!
On whatever page is opposite sew pieces of velcro to attach the shapes to. I am planning on adding squares of fabric so that the opposite page can be a color match.
So there you have it so far! 🙂 Don’t forget to check out the Christmas Countdown Link up tomorrow. We have extended it to go until January 5th, so we can share all of our holiday festivities!
