The past week the hubby, Annabelle and I took a much needed vacation Up North. To all you non-Michiganders, “Up-North” means going to a cabin, cottage, camp ground in the northern lower peninsula or upper peninsula. In our case we went to Matt’s grandparent’s cottage. I love how relaxing and slow life is up there. It’s an added bonus that there are so many other people to look after Annabelle. 🙂
With all that extra help Matt and I were able to sneak away for a date day/night. We I decided it would be great to go into Traverse City to go on a wine tour. We had done one in before, and enjoyed it, so I decided why not try again. If you find yourself around the Traverse City area I highly suggest going to either Old Mission or Leelanau Peninsula and hitting up some of the wineries. I was totally going to take a bunch of fun pictures… but then at the first winery I realized my battery was almost dead. It was a major bummer. We were able to get a few pictures though.
The above picture was taken at Leelanau Cellars, which has probably been my favorite winery thus far. Although the vineyards were off site, the tasting room had a beautiful view! Plus, the pours were complimentary, and there wasn’t really a limit. The person who was giving us the tasting kept on suggesting different wines to try. Amazing! Added bonus? The wines were all reasonably priced! Needless to say we bought a few bottles. 😉
This winery was the farthest north winery on the Leelanau Peninsula. We decided to go a little farther north to visit the light house at the tip of the peninsula. Since it was part of a state park we had to pay to get in, and the light house itself was a bit disappointing (the best light house we’ve seen had to be the one in St. Joesph MI. See the pictures below)

Here are the pictures from the St. Joesph light house. Much cooler… plus we didn’t have to pay to see it.
Other than going on the wine tour we pretty much stayed in the cottage. Annabelle had a blast playing in the sand.
Love this picture Matt snapped of us. Annabelle’s like “aww mom….. no kisses!”
All in all it was a wonderful trip!
Stay tuned in future posts as I try my hand at creating a “quiet book” for Annabelle.
