Well on Monday Annabelle got her helmet. She was a trooper as the orthotist put it on and off in order to get just the right fit. So far she doesn’t seem completely phased by it, but definitely doesn’t like getting put on or taking it off. I also decorated it right away, because if she was going to have to wear it, well then darn it, it would be as cute as I could make it!
It’s really hard for her to do tummy time with the helmet, and she ends up just crying and putting her head on the floor. I feel so bad for her! |
Here is how I decorated the helmet. I wanted to do it right away, because by Sunday she will be wearing it 23 hours a day. |
To complicate things just a bit, Annabelle has been having a really hard time passing stools (sorry if that’s tmi…). This has been going on since Monday and I feel so bad for her. I have given her pears, prunes and sweet potatoes, but they are still hard. I have also tried giving her pear juice with water, but she’s not so much a fan (if I try giving it to her in a bottle she looks at me like “what the heck are you trying to do to me!” and she hasn’t quite figured out a sippy cup). I guess I had been giving her too much banana and applesauce, so I stopped that right away. Let’s hope today is the day she has a good poop!
Also, today was Annabelle’s first day of taking a nap in the helmet and I was all kinds of worried…. her first nap was 1 1/2 hours (she is actually just getting up now)! Yes, you heard read me right. 1 1/2 hours! She never even made a peep during that whole time! She’s only ever taken that long of a nap twice since before she was four months old!
