Fall is almost here right?! I feel like I’ve been talking about fall for ages, but I know by reading other blogs, lots of people are equally as excited about fall as I am. I mean, who isn’t get excited about fall? Cider, apple orchards, football, sweatshirt weather, the leaves changing colors, Halloween, did I mention football? so much to love! What is your favorite thing/things about fall?
One thing I was really excited about was going to the apple orchard. Last year due to some crazy weather (a warm trend, then a late frost) none of the apple orchards had any apples to pick. I was pretty devastated. I have been going to the same orchard every year to pick apples since I was about three. My dad has been making applesauce for as long as I can remember, and after I got married I began the same tradition. Nothing beats the smell of apples cooking down to applesauce on a nice fall day!
Luckily this year the weather cooperated, and I got to take Annabelle for her first trip to the orchard! I went with my parents on a Tuesday, which was great because it was so empty. No waiting for a tractor and no waiting for cider and donuts. My dad brought a small cart with wheels to carry the apples. Between the two of us we got a bushel of apples. It would have been quite difficult to carry a bag of apples as well as Annabelle. Annabelle actually slept the entire time we picked apples (since she decided that she wasn’t going to take her first nap), but then woke up at the end for cider and donuts (a girl after my own heart). By the way, if you’ve never considered “baby wearing” I highly recommend it (even though every time I tell Matt “I wore Annabelle” he responds “it the puts on its skin”… <<shakes head>>). I am able to do a lot more when I am wearing her and my hands are free. Plus if it close to a nap time, she can easily fall asleep. I use the ergo when going out since I think it has a bit more structure to it, and the moby at home.
