If you’ve been around this blog for a while, then you know that I have an undying love for the Michigan State Spartans football team. While I attended I had student tickets and went to every home game. There is just something about sitting in the heat/ freeezing rain/ snow cheering on your team. Once I graduated I continued watching the games from my couch (not quite as exciting), and after Matt and I got married I made sure to decorate the house with all things Spartans during football season.
Every year I try to add a new thing or two, and this year was no different. I had bought a bulk pack of canvas a while back to make this love handprint craft. Well I still had a bunch lying around, so I decided to put one of them to good use, and make an MSU canvas! Complete with chevron stripes! What’s great is that you can do this with any university or team you would like. 🙂
To start you need to make a grid on your canvas to make the stripes. I split my canvas in fourths
Then I traced the state of Michigan onto my canvas. To do this I shaded the back of a piece of paper that I had printed the state of MI on. I then just traced the outline, and that transferred the state to my canvas.
After that it’s time to add your chevron stripes.
Since I thought the top looked a bit plain, I added MSU to top. Then I erased the grid lines and added a heart to where MSU is located.
Instead of painting the chevron stripes, I decided to write the words Go Green! Go White! and Spartans. I also painted the letters and state of Michigan in.
And that’s it! Super easy and super cute!
