**I have working partnership with Goldfish Swim School. While they provide me with complimentary lessons, all thoughts and comments are my own.**
When you think of winter, what are the thoughts that come to your mind. Snowmen? Boots? Swimming?
Ok, I know what you are thinking.
Danielle, hold the phone, have you lost your marbles? How on Earth is swimming a good winter activity?
Just stick around, and hear me out. Goldfish Swim School is a great place to take your children for swim lessons year round. If your kids are anything like mine, they are bouncing off the walls being stuck inside all day. Swimming not only gets them out of the house, but will also help to burn off some energy (all while teaching them crucial life skills). Also, did you know the pool is heated to 90°?? Not only that, but the pool deck area is also kept warm, so that when you are out of the water you are still warm.
Want to know how else I make swimming a success in the winter? Read on to learn my tips.
TIP ONE:
Wear your swimsuit under your clothes.
Both Annabelle and I put on our swim suits at home, then wear our clothes over them (don’t forget to pack undergarments for after swimming). When we get to Goldfish, we hang up our coats, then take our clothes off, and store them in the cubbies with our boots.
Annabelle can do this on her own, allowing me to get Autumn changed (since she wears swim diapers, I change her there. Swim diapers, disposal or reusable, do not hold pee, just a little F.Y.I.).
TIP TWO:
Take advantage of the showers located on the pool deck.
I love that the shower area is one big space so I have plenty of room to get both girls clean. You don’t even have to bring soap or shampoo as Goldfish provides bottles in the shower area.
TIP THREE:
Dry your hair there.
Goldfish provides a cute little space to dry your hair.
I love that they have multiple dryer available, and that they are full sized hair dyers. Annabelle (and Autumn) love that they get their hair dried.
TIP FOUR:
Use the swimsuit dryer.
If you go out and about after lessons, you can dry your suits there. They have a little dryer that dries one suit at a time. Using this means you won’t be lugging around soaking wet suits.
TIP FIVE:
Have fun!
Above all, have fun! We are loving our lessons. Annabelle is still a bit… lets say…. cautious about the water, but that’s O.K. I love that there is no pressure on her to accomplish tasks quickly. Her teacher is great about working with her at her comfort level. Autumn is simply having a blast, and I am enjoying spending one on one time with her.
